Bougainvillea is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language psychological thriller film written and directed by Amal Neerad, who co-wrote the screenplay along with Lajo Jose. It is an adaptation of the 2019 novel Ruthinte Lokam [1] written by Jose. The film is jointly produced by Jyothirmayi and Kunchacko Boban under the banners of Amal Neerad Productions and Udaya Pictures respectively. It stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil and Jyothirmayi in the lead roles along with Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar and Srinda in supporting roles. The film marks Jyothirmayi's comeback to cinema after an 11 year hiatus.
Principal photography commenced in September 2023 and went on till April 2024 in secrecy. The music is composed by Sushin Shyam, with cinematography handled by Anend C. Chandran and editing done by Vivek Harshan.
Bougainvillea is scheduled to release theatrically worldwide in 2024.
